Prestarts done at the machine, not at the end of the shift

Operators complete daily prestarts on their phone, standing at the machine, with or without signal. A failed check is recorded with a comment and a photo, and the machine stays on hold until someone authorised releases it.

How it works

From the walk-around to the separate release

  1. New PrestartChoose the asset, location, operator and shift, then work through the checklist item by item.
  2. Prestart ChecklistPass, fail or N/A, item by item. A failed item needs a comment and a photo.
  3. Submit PrestartSubmitting raises a defect for each failed check and keeps the asset on hold. The Asset inspections menu follows the same pattern, with observations, measurements and photos.
  4. Defects and releaseDefects carry the evidence, assignment and corrective-work verification. Release from hold is a separate, authorised decision.

Holds and isolations stay in force

  • Separate, authorised releaseA machine on hold or isolated returns to use only through its own release decision, recorded with the reviewer.
  • Repairs do not release the machineA passed prestart, a closed defect or an approved work order does not return the asset to service on its own.
  • Defects linked to the sourceEach defect keeps the prestart or inspection, the failed item and the photo, and carries through to the work order.
  • Who and whenEvery check, defect and release is recorded with the person and time.

Mobile First

For phones and tablets on iOS and Android

Checks are done on the phone at the machine, before work starts, so the record is made by the operator who did the check.
